A 1920’s Revival
A 1920’s Revival takes the character of a traditional bathroom and gives it a more individual, contemporary interpretation through colour, specialist fittings and carefully chosen detailing.
The focal point is the bespoke Victorian-style clawfoot bath, which can remain classic white or be finished in a colour selected from the Plascon colour chart. Introducing colour to baths & basins creating an opportunity to build the bathroom palette around the sanitaryware itself rather than relying only on tiles and paint.
The brassware is from the AXOR Montreux collection, designed by Phoenix Design. Its distinctive crosshead detailing and traditional proportions complement the period influence of the bath while still delivering the precision and performance expected from contemporary bathroom fittings.
The finishing touch is the bespoke Peacock robe hooks, bringing an unexpected decorative detail into a bathroom where every product has been selected to contribute to the overall design.

Serene Coastal

Serene Coastal is a calm, contemporary bathroom built around scale, texture and an uninterrupted connection to the view.
The focal point is the large-format stone-effect tile, used across the bath feature wall and repeated through the shower area to create a continuous material language. The oversized format allows the natural movement and veining within the tile to become a strong design feature while keeping grout lines to a minimum.
The built-in bath is finished in the same large-format tile, giving the bathing area a clean, architectural appearance. A wall-mounted waterfall bath spout keeps the bath surround uncluttered and allows the tile itself to remain the focus.
The shower continues the same restrained approach with frameless glass, a recessed shower niche for everyday products and a heated towel rail positioned conveniently alongside the wet area.

Mediterranean on Kloof
Submerge yourself in the warmth and character of an authentic Mediterranean bathroom, where colour, texture and craftsmanship come together to create a space that feels as though it has evolved over time rather than simply been installed.
The beautiful decorative floor tile is central to the design, its irregular pattern and softened colouring lending the appearance of an authentic aged floor covering — reminiscent of the time-worn tiled floors found throughout old Mediterranean homes and villas. Deep olive-green wall tiles continue through the arched shower and around the window, while warm terracotta-toned plaster envelops the room in earthy colour.
Curved architectural openings soften the space and reinforce the Mediterranean influence. A freestanding white bath provides a quiet contrast to the richer surfaces, while the deep green vanity, striped statement mirror and ceramic pendant lights introduce a slightly playful, collected quality. Aged brass fittings complete the palette, bringing warmth rather than shine to the overall composition.

Set on a wine farm in Franschhoek, the bathroom opens completely to its surroundings through expansive stacked glass doors, dissolving the boundary between indoors and outdoors. When opened, the room feels almost like an extension of the vineyard itself, drawing in fresh air, natural light, and uninterrupted landscape views. The centerpiece is a generous spa bath for two, positioned to make the part of the bathing experience. It creates a place to slow down, share a glass of bubbles, and enjoy the changing light over the valley. An infrared sauna introduces another layer of wellness to the room, creating a natural progression from heat and relaxation to bathing and rest. Warm timber, soft neutral finishes, and a simple natural rug keep the interior quiet and understated, allowing the surrounding landscape to remain the real focal point. Designed around the natural contrast of heat, water, cold and rest, the space brings together a private sauna, cooling immersion, an open rainfall shower and a dedicated relaxation zone with paired Malawi recliners. Natural timber, concrete, planting and warm layered lighting create a sensory connection between the built environment and nature.

Seagull View brings together contemporary bathroom technology, distinctive product design and a confident coastal palette.
At the centre of the specification is a smart toilet, introducing modern comfort and functionality to the guest loo. The basin is paired with a Philippe Starck-designed mixer, adding a recognised piece of industrial design to an otherwise compact space.
A fluted navy vanity with brass detailing creates a strong focal point, while the ocean-inspired wall tiles introduce movement, texture and colour without overwhelming the room. The combination of deep navy, warm metallic finishes and carefully selected sanitaryware gives this small bathroom a sophisticated, contemporary coastal character.

Karoo Soak
Karoo Soak draws on the warm, mineral colours of the Karoo earthy plastered walls, dark sanitaryware and aged metallic finishes brought together in a bathroom that feels grounded, tactile and contemporary.
The stone bath anchors the design with its strong sculptural form. It is paired with warm metallic bath and basin mixers, introducing just enough contrast against the darker sanitaryware and muted wall finishes.
Behind the bath, decorative wall tile becomes the feature. Each 201 × 201 mm ceramic tile has a raised 3D pattern made up of individually detailed floral, geometric and medallion-style motifs. Rather than reading as one repeated print, the variation across the tile faces creates the character of hand-worked decorative panels. 
The basin area is kept deliberately simple with a cylindrical dark basin and a bespoke organic-shaped mirror, breaking away from the usual round or rectangular bathroom mirror and adding a softer architectural line to the composition.
What we love about this design:
The balance between texture and restraint. The detailed 3D wall tiles provide the decorative element, while the stone bath, simple basin form and warm metallic brassware keep the bathroom contemporary. Airbnb Wellington Wellness was designed to provide guests with more than a place to stay, it creates a dedicated environment for heat therapy, movement, stretching and recovery within the suite.
The wellness experience begins with a timber sauna, enclosed behind contemporary dark-framed glass. Warm integrated lighting enhances the natural timber interior, creating a calm, restorative space that feels considered rather than clinical.
Beyond the sauna, the room opens into a dedicated movement zone incorporating a Pilates reformer, stretching equipment and Smart Fitness Mirror. Guests can use the space for Pilates, guided workouts, yoga, mobility and recovery without the visual clutter of conventional gym equipment.
The transition from the darker tiled sauna zone to the warm timber flooring of the exercise area subtly defines each function while allowing the entire room to read as one cohesive private wellness experience.
What we love about this design:
Wellness has been integrated into the accommodation rather than added as an afterthought. An Artist’s Retreat
An Artist’s Retreat is a bathroom conceived as a living artwork, a warm, restorative space where craftsmanship, nature and personal expression become part of the architecture.
At the heart of the room is the hand-painted wall mural, created as the defining feature of the design rather than simply an decorative backdrop. A serene female figure emerges amongst oversized proteas and layered botanical forms, turning the bathing wall into an original piece of art. Positioned directly behind the bath, the mural transforms the simple ritual of bathing into an immersive experience - almost as though you are stepping into the painting itself.
The remainder of the bathroom has deliberately been kept quiet and tonal so that the artwork can command the space. Soft stone finishes, warm timber-look flooring and a restrained natural palette allow the mural’s sepia, clay and botanical tones to flow naturally throughout the room. Subtle concealed lighting washes across the artwork from above, bringing its detail and texture to life.
A generous built-in bath sits beneath the mural, while the frameless walk-in shower and sculptural basin area continue the calm, contemporary language. Dark fittings provide definition without competing with the artwork, and natural planting strengthens the connection between the painted botanicals and the living environment.
What we love about this design:
The mural makes this bathroom completely individual. Rather than selecting artwork after the room has been designed, art becomes the starting point for the entire interior. Industrial Soak
Industrial Soak brings together the raw character of exposed brick, black steel and natural timber with the deeply restorative ritual of Japanese-style bathing.
The defining feature of the room is the deep Japanese soaking bath. Inspired by the centuries-old ofuro bathing tradition, its upright form allows the body to be immersed in warm water rather than reclining as you would in a conventional bath. Traditionally, this style of bathing has been associated with slowing down, deep relaxation, warmth and quiet restoration — turning bathing into a deliberate ritual rather than simply part of the daily routine.
The room’s industrial architecture provides a striking counterpoint. Exposed brickwork, black-framed glazing and matte black fittings are softened by warm timber cabinetry, ceiling beams and ambient pendant lighting. Twin arched mirrors and individual basins bring symmetry to the vanity wall without making the space feel overly formal.
Underfoot, a terrazzo-look porcelain floor tile introduces movement and texture while connecting the warmer brick tones with the lighter shower finishes. The same terrazzo character continues into the shower, creating a strong material link across the room while offering the durability and practicality of porcelain.

At the heart of the room is a dedicated sound-therapy experience, centred around a singing bowl and gong as visual and energetic focal points. Low resting platforms invite the body to fully relax, while soft textures, muted finishes, natural elements and gentle lighting create an atmosphere that immediately slows the pace of the day.
The idea draws from ancient Eastern sound-healing traditions, where resonant bowls have long been used in ritual, meditation and restorative practices.
